Lynda is part of our mahi kai team. She coordinates Hauora Kai, the Porirua East fruit and vege cooperative. Her job involves managing a team of volunteers who sort and distribute weekly packs of seasonal produce.
A big part of her role is maintaining relationships with local whānau so that they have easy access to the co-op and making sure it responds to their changing circumstances.
Lynda also coordinates pick up of kai for the food pantry.
Born and bred in Porirua East, Lynda comes from a whānau with deep connections with and a history of contribution to the local community. She has lived many of the realities of communities experiencing hardship. This means she is able to translate our work for community, and provide vital feedback on how best to grow new ideas within our community.
Lynda provides ahūrutanga for Te Hiko: people know Lynda, Lynda knows everyone, there is no judgement, just relationships and understanding.
Lynda’s passion: “My main passion is whānau, and many of those in our community are whānau. I got involved with Te Hiko through our food sovereignty work and I’m so happy to be now paying it forward to others.“
